CHAPTER VI: DIGGING INTO THE DIRT

This began to feel NOT like somebody going to the bathroom but rather someone stalling for time cause he doesn't know what else to do.

After fidgeting for several minutes and getting 'looks' from Jake, I was just about to go check to see if he was alright or had maybe slipped out the back or something when Jimmy finally reappeared...looking a bit chagrined.

"Sorry. Nerves I guess."

Before I could, Jake jumped the gun.
"Jimmy, maybe you don't really know anything, but I have a feeling you suspect some things.
Like how maybe Ricky didn't commit suicide. Huh?

Ok I was of course thinking that but boy did that come out of left field and maybe to Jake as much as me or Jimmy.

Jimmy just sat but he had the look of someone who has just been kicked in the groin.

"I don't know, honest."
"Sure you do," I said looking hard at him.
"Just spit it out and if it is anything we will say so and if it isn't no harm done.

He sat. Just...sat, looking down at his knees as he had been doing and I gotta tell you I knew he was burdened and hurting and I felt so sorry for him. He looked like a trapped animal in a cage and not knowing how to escape and wanting to do that more than anything.

FINALLY, he sat up a bit straighter.
"You may think I am nuts," he whispered more than said.
"We will never think that, Jimmy," I answered him...and he brightened a tiny bit.
"OK. Here is what I know," and for the next half hour we listened as he shared what he knew, what he suspected and what he didn't know and felt very uneasy about.

At the end, we just all sat, and it got really really quiet. Jake just looked at me and I at him and we didn't know what to say for a minute. Jimmy's little 'sharing' had been a bit of a bombshell and I was taken aback.

I can't tell you what I might have expected him to say, but whatever it was...this wasn't it.

Ok, so he shared at my request but the $64 dollar question is...
NOW WHAT?

NOW WHAT?
